Salman coloured Sonakshi’s world

It might be argued that since this is her debut film, Sonakshi Sinha has picked up the tricks of the trade from her co-star, the mighty Salman Khan.
This despite the fact that at home and in her father Shatrughan Sinha, the debutante has one of Bollywood’s great characters. But there’s no doubt about where Sonakshi learned how to paint... from Bollywood’s closet artist Salman himself.
Shatru’s pretty daughter breaks into Bollywood this September with Dabanng. And such has been Salman’s influence on the debutante in this film, that she has even taken paint brush to canvas and is producing paintings that look uncannily like they have come out of Salman’s Bandra studio. “I’ve done fashion designing so I knew how to sketch. Using the paint brush was something I dreaded. But Salman helped me overcome this fear and taught me to paint,” said Sonakshi.
She impressed the master with her first painting — a woman with a cross. “He said it didn’t look like I’d painted for the first time,” Sonakshi admitted. And for these impromptu lessons in art, Sonakshi has given Salman a guru dakshina already. “Four years ago, on his birthday, I gifted Salman a silhouette of his face... that was even before I could think of joining films,” she said.
She agreed that her works look like his. “That’s because I’ve incorporated his style in me... also, he’s always around when I paint. The day I put my own ideas on the canvas, my paintings will look different from his,” said Sonakshi. But she’s hugely grateful to Salman.
“He has been very encouraging. Dabanng is the best thing that could have happened to a newcomer like me,” said Sonakshi, who will not sign any more films until this one releases. The buzz is that she turned down Sanjay Leela Bhansali as well.
